Hello, faithful readers. I’m sorry I haven’t been keeping up, on this, the most important week of the year. Amelia was sick Wednesday, and still a little under the weather Thursday. Since I (try to) write these a day in advance, I missed yesterday’s and today’s posts.
That being said, they’re the same readings every year, and so I thought I’ll share what I wrote last time—
It's Not a Metaphor
I decided to reflect on the Lord’s Supper mass rather than the Chrism mass because I think, while Easter is what differentiates Christianity from other religions, it’s Holy Thursday that sets Catholicism apart from mere Christianity. The Amateur Theologian is reader-supported. The Power to Choose
This is the one time of year it’s appropriate to say you’re going to “church” instead of “mass.” There is no mass between Holy Thursday and Easter Vigil. Or, rather, it’s one big mass; that’s why there’s no dismissal after Holy Thursday. The priest also makes extra eucharist to distribute during Friday’s service, if your parish does that. He’s not supposed to consecrate any on Good Friday.
I’ll have a new post tomorrow! Until then, have a blessed and reflective Good Friday.
